St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 1813 Oakdale Road John Paul II Center MI Prayer Village First Saturday after 8:00 am Mass Suzanne Flint 209-521-8299 Together with the Marian groups, MI Family Village, Guadalupanos, and Legion of Mary, we will have a May crowning during the 8am Mass. This will replace our regular MI Meeting. Our April meeting fell on Holy Saturday. We attended the Tenabrae service and met to pray the rosary and chaplet to St. Maximilian. In March we continued our formation with the book Together with Mary. We broke-up into groups and each group contributed to the discussion as part of the presentation. Later that month we sponsored the Mass and Anointing of the Sick. We gave out Miraculous Medals, Miraculous Medal, St. Maximilian Kolbe, as well as, the Knights at the Foot of the Cross pamphlets. We were assisted by our Health Ministry and Dial-a-Ride who provides transportation for all those who are ill or handicapped. Over 250 people attended. In the evening we will have a fundraising Filipino Dinner with St. Joseph’s Choir. The MI Villages will use our shared part of the profit for evangelization.

MI Family Village May meeting will be replaced by a Mother’s Day Retreat Weekend, led by FKM, Ann O’Donnell. Dads and kids will join mom at the Sunday 9 am Mothers’ Day Mass.

John & Malissa Souza 209-531-8126 Last months meeting was attended by 80% of our members. Andre & Elisa Del Curto, who have 13 children (3 in heaven), gave a presentation that spoke to the heart of what it means to suffer in the everyday trials of family life. Suffering and offering our suffering in love. Jesus, the one True Model teaches us how to follow him. Andre shared about driving to work while praying the rosary and accidentally injuring a woman riding a bike, and the pain of not knowing to what extent she was injured, then the miracle of God’s grace thru the experience. Power in prayer and belief in miracles; help us keep our attitudes grounded in the Lord. Elisa shared about a miscarriage and the inconsiderate comments from acquaintances, opinions and judgments that tear and tug a mother’s heart. Andre spoke of St Maximilian’s heroic suffering and his spiritual attitude; something we all strive to be like as MI members faithful to the Immaculata. He spoke of the great and almighty God, of the suffering by which God prepares us for a better life. He exhorted us to manly forbearance, for even these trials pass. Since there is a divine justice and providence, we need not lose heart. Fr Benny complimented the MI Family Village for its everyday experiences being made holy by the sharing and strengthening of its members in and thru Christ Jesus.

The Sick and the Suffering:

“Soon I should begin chemotherapy with the goal to promote remission. I am very grateful for the prayers of my many friends in the Franciscan community. The wonderful privilege which I had to meet Brother Jerome (Niepokalanow) and to collaborate with him and other friars in preparing Mary’s Knight is one of the highlights of my life.” Claude Foster (author of Mary’s Knight) The Souls of the Departed: Marisa Brizzi, the sister-in-law of Anna Brizzi passed on Thursday of the octave of Easter after a long battle with cancer. Anna and her family in Italy are very grateful for the many prayers and condolences.
