As a fruit of a very successful February Marian Silent Retreat we had 46 candidates for Total Consecration. Fr. Benny, our Village spiritual director, instructed the group for 4 hours in a two part "Preparation for Consecration".
On the Feast of the Annunciation, Fr Benny presided over the consecration ceremony (in which he too officially enrolled in the MI). Five Spanish speaking people, followed by their families, made their consecration. Father then announced that we will begin a MI Spanish Village with the help of the Missionaries. Then four families made the family total consecration. Standing shoulder to shoulder, the remaining individuals, stood before the sanctuary of the church. With the help of Fr John Peter all were invested with the Miraculous Medal.  It was a beautiful site to behold. Many MI members were on hand to welcome and celebrate on the plaza after Mass. In April Laura and Kent Harker will share about Enthronement of the home to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Rather than a traditional MI Village we received permission to do it another way. Every week our 25 MI Villagers commit to a holy hour where we pray and read the MI format. It may be an hour of our choosing. We seek our own formation and apostolates. We are letting Our Lady lead us to various individual apostolates such as promoting MI, pro-life, promoting Eucharistic adoration, and helping the poor.  We are beginning an apostolate supporting Fair trade to help the poor in third world countries become empowered.

In preparation for the beatification of John Paul II on May 1, 2011, we continued our monthly study of his encyclical Mission of the Redeemer with chapter two, "The Kingdom of Heaven/ The Storms of Life". We highlighted three ways in which one can "weather" the storms of life: 1) Stay close to the Sacraments 2) be rooted in His Holy Word and Church teachings and  3) call on the intercession and motherly protection of the Immaculata. We will discuss Our Lady of Sorrows and incorporate our study of One More Gift in April.
